REFRIGERATOR FIRES - Too Many Too Often

The number of RV refrigerator fires is startling! I can post pictures of RVs that have burnt and I can attach links to many stories written by the owners and others about their unfortunate circumstance. I could also post the recall notices from both Dometic and Norcold but no need. Any Google search of "RV Refrigerator Fire", "RV Refrigerator Recall", "Dometic Recall", "Norcold Fire", "Dometic Fire" or "Norcold Recall" will bring up many stories, photos, blogs, and other information on RV refrigerator fires. On average, 3 recreational vehicles per day catch fire. How many are acceptable? None in my opinion. Some are caught early but many are a total loss. Many of these fires have been from refrigerators that are on recall lists, but not always. Don't assume that because yours isn't on a recall list that you have nothing to worry about. Personally, I feel fortunate to have a residential refrigerator in my coach. My hope is that I can help in some small way in preventing someone from experiencing a total loss as a result of a refrigerator fire.
To that end, I spoke with "Mac The Fire Guy". Many of you know him through RV Rallies and RV Forums. we are all bothered by how many of the RV Fires and how many RV owners are unaware of the potential for disaster. I wondered what I could do.
